MCSL Relay All-Stars Championship Meet

Date, Location & Schedule

The MCSL All Star Relay Meet will be held in two separate sessions at the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center on Saturday, July 30^th. Section I (Divisions A thru H) will begin at 7:00 am and Section II (Divisions I thru O) will begin at 10:00 am. The facility will open at 6:00 am.

The entire pool will be available for general warm-up but only lanes 2, 3, 6 and 7 of the Competition area will be available for Starts and Sprints. All swimmers must enter the pool at the Start End only. The warm-up schedule for each Section is listed below:

6:30 am thru 6:55 am - General Warm-up & Lanes 2, 3, 6 & 7 open for Starts and Sprints

T-Shirt Orders: Please use the Google Form to order MCSL All-Star Relay or MCSL All-Star Individual t-shirts. Each shirt is $20.00.

Include your email address and name with your order.

Pick-Up will be on deck under the Rays tent the day of the event.

All orders and payments MUST be received no later than July 26th at 8PM. We will be unable to accommodate any late requests.

Officials, Timers/Take-Off Judges and Other Volunteers

The MCSL All Star Relay Meet requires the staffing of two full sets of Officials, Timers, Take-Off Judges and Other Volunteers since the meet is run in two sessions – Section I and Section II. This meet is a unique event in that each Division swims approximately the same number of Relay teams. As a result, we need All Divisions to solicit volunteers and help staff the meet.

The All Star Officials/Volunteers Coordinator for each Division will be soliciting volunteers to work as Officials (Referee, Starter and Stroke & Turn Judges) as well Timers/Take-Off Judges/Marshals. If you wish to work as an official, please contact the competition committee at [email protected] with the section you will be attending, your preferred assignment and your team affiliation. Rockville Rays: Shadowland Laser Tag Outing

624 Quince Orchard Rd. Gaithersburg, MD 20878

Who: Rockville Rays. The facility is closed to outside players except for our group.

Our swimmers are known to do very well in the water. Now it is time to see how well they will do on their dry land skill. Come and join us to have lots of fun before the end of the season. Don't Miss this opportunity. Space is limited. We will close when we reach 105 attendees. Looking forward to see all of you.

What: Laser tag! We will play as many adventures as time allows.

When: July 25th, 6:30PM to 9:30PM

Cost: $15 for each player to cover the cost of play and pizza. Non-participants do not need to pay and registered. Rays volunteers will be collecting payment using the method payment above. Please submit your payment and signed the hard copy of your release form by Wednesday, July 20th.

All others will park at Wayside Elementary School (right next door).
There is overflow street parking on Twining Lane (Left off Glen Road past CG entrance).
All DROP-OFFS should got to Wayside, NOT CG because there is no easy way to turn around.
Marshalls will be onsite to direct traffic.

B Meet: Intrasquad Meet & Family Relays

Family Relay Night: Parents and/or siblings within a family will form a relay team and will compete against other families.

We will have the following 3 events:

4x25 kickboard relay
4x25 freestyle relay
4x25 medley relay

If your family does not have an even 4 people, you can combine with another family unit (i.e. swimmer A + swimmer A's mom + swimmer B + swimmer B's mom), or "adopt" a swimmer with no siblings/swimmer parents. These combinations can either be organized by yourself, or I can facilitate them too!

What I need from you if you'd like to participate: please tell me how many family members will be participating and which one or two of the 3 events you'd like to enter! If your swimmer is available to be "adopted" into a family relay, please let me know too! ([email protected])

MCSL Coaches' Invitational Long Course Meet

Due to inclement weather on July 12, the Coaches Long Course meet has been rescheduled. Thank you for the RSFC leadership for accommodating this change. We are hopeful that the weather will cooperate for our backup date.

Print your own copy of the meet program (will be updated as scratches are processed) and bring it with you: copies will NOT be available at the meet.

The rescheduled MCSL Coaches Invitational Long Course Meet will be held at the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center on Tuesday, July 19^th. The meet will begin at 6:30 pm and the facility will be opened at 5:00 pm. The warm-up schedule is listed below:

There will be no halftime break. Instead, we have three lanes for continuous warm-up/warm-down in the upper pool. These lanes will open after the warmup period in the competition pool has concluded.

Swimmers may only warm-up in the Competition Pool during the designated warm-up period.

Activity: Shirt Decoration

During this Friday's potluck, we will be doing shirt decoration! We'll use fabric spray, fabric paint, and puffy paint to create rays-inspired designs on clothing. What you will need to bring:

A T-shirt (or other clothing item). This could also be the shirt that you did tie-dye on, or a different shirt. I'd recommend a plain shirt instead of a Rays shirt so you have more room to decorate, but the back of a Rays shirt will also work. Dark or light colored clothing will both be okay since we have various colored paint. If your swimmer has friends the team, you could buy a multi-pack of plain shirts as a cost-effective solution.
A piece of cardboard to put inside the shirt while decorating to prevent wrinkling or colors bleeding through. Previously, we tried sharing cardboard pieces but it took a while since the cardboard needs to stay in the shirt until the paint dries. The cardboard should fit inside the T-shirt when laying flat. See this link for an idea of what it is used for.
